Description
You’re invited to a private celebratory screening of THE OPTIMIST, an award-winning narrative film based on the incredible true story of Holocaust survivor Herbert Heller who concealed his miraculous escape from the Auschwitz-Birkenau death march for 60 years.

Starring Stephen Lang (Avatar) and Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), THE OPTIMIST is a profoundly moving Northern Californian story about an unexpected friendship between an aging soul confronting his childhood and a young girl repressing her past. Together, they embark on a unique, life-saving journey that opens the door to hope, healing, and the transformative power of being truly seen.

Watch the trailer here.

This event celebrates the 20th anniversary of Herbert's historic recording of his oral history in Marin Country with the JFCS Holocaust Center, the place where it all began. Following the screening, stay for an intimate sit-down lunch and conversation with Finn Taylor (Writer/Director), Jeanine Thomas (Producer), and special guests from the Heller family.

Join us at JFCS' San Francisco office (2150 Post St. SF, CA, 94115) for this special one-time screening of THE OPTIMIST to honor Herbert's enduring legacy.

Seating is limited. Please RSVP here now. Hope to see you there!
