Description
Join us for a book reading by NEXT Village member Sidney Hollister of excerpts from his memoir Learning to Dance with French.

Fifty years ago Sid passed on a chance to buy a house and settle down and instead went to France to learn how to do what the French take as their birthright: to feel at home in his own skin, a feeling he’d rarely had.

Working as a translator in a prestigious graduate school in Paris, slogging through muddy vineyards in Burgundy, falling asleep to bonging cowbells in La France Profonde while taking a ceramics workshop, and making banana splits for co-workers when he was a plongeur or dishwasher in a renowned restaurant near Lyon, Sid learned a few things about the French — and himself.

Travelers, readers, and fans of Sid's Salon movie screenings, will be enthralled by his adventures and the discoveries from his travels and through writing his memoirs.
