Covid Variants, Booster Shots and Back to School -- A Common Sense Reality Check

When?
Wednesday, Sep 8 5:00PM - 6:00PM PDT

Where?
Online

Description
Once again SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) has thrown us a curveball.

When Dr. Levy last spoke to us in April, we were excited by the hope that vaccines would allow us to return to normal pre-pandemic life again. People were seeing friends and family again and making travel plans. Now the surge of the Delta variant has many wondering and worrying.

As we hear conflicting messages about masks, booster shots and indoor gatherings, we once again turn to Dr. Jay Levy to provide his common sense reality check to help us make decisions based on knowledge, rather than fear.

Dr. Levy will address some of the questions people have around topics like variants, antiviral immune responses, booster shots, indoor gatherings, and more. We hope you will join us for Dr. Levy’s latest conversation with us for a fact-based and frank discussion on where we are and possible scenarios for the future.

PRESENTER: Dr. Jay A. Levy is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Laboratory for Tumor and AIDS Virus Research at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Levy co-discovered HIV in 1983 and during the last 3 decades has dedicated his efforts to developing anti-HIV therapies, an AIDS vaccine, and potentially a cure. Dr. Levy has published 14 books and over 600 articles in virology, immunology and infectious diseases.
