Want to try out cuisine from around the globe while meeting new people? Join us for the launch of our new Global Cuisine Club. We're starting right at home with an American diner -- Mel's Drive-In! Yes, we'll have an icebreaker game to get conversations started so you can learn about your fellow diners over convivial conversation and traditional American cuisine (in honor of Independence Day) like meatloaf, turkey with stuffing, salads, and of course a burger, fries & milkshake! Vegetarian & gluten free options available.

Limited capacity. NEXT Village members receive priority for spots.

Please note:

This is an in person event.
You must be fully Covid vaccinated to attend.
Location is an outdoor patio if space available, or indoor booths separated by Plexiglas if outdoor space is full or too cold.
You must purchase a food item from the menu. Sample items include Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup (cup $5.75), salads (options from $8), the famous Mel Burger ($12.75), meatloaf ($18), fish & chips ($18), NY Steak ($25), & thick old fashioned milkshakes ($8)
Free parking in Mel's parking lot. Numerous busses stop within blocks of Mel's, which is on Lombard between Fillmore & Steiner.
About Mel's Drive-In: In 1947, Mel Weiss opened the first drive-in restaurant in San Francisco, Mels drive-in. The original location was at 140 South Van Ness Ave. If you saw the 1973 film "American Graffiti" you may remember the neon sign at the gang's favorite hangout spot blazing "Mels drive-in." Mel’s is a family owned business that has had generations of customers come through its doors in the last 74 years.
