This Zoom presentation will provide an overview of the wide range of services available through the San Francisco Department of Disability & Aging Services (DAS), with a deep dive into In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), a program that provides paid assistance to income-eligible aged, blind, and/or disabled individuals so they can remain safely in their own homes.
Whether you need help now, or want to be aware of what is available in case needed in the future, make sure to join us to learn about DAS and IHSS services available, eligibility requirements, and the application process.
Some of the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) help available to eligible persons include:
- Household chores
- Meal preparation
- Routine laundry
- Shopping and errands
- Non-medical personal care, such as bathing, respiration, grooming, and feeding
- Transportation to and from health-related appointments
- Accompaniment to medical appointments
In addition, we'll get an overview of other services available through DAS and the more than 60 community organizations DAS partners with (like NEXT Village!) to help coordinate care, serve meals, provide socialization and recreation activities, and other services. DAS and 13 Aging & Disability Resource Centers around SF provide free information and assistance on issues affecting older people and people with disabilities, regardless of income. Information and referral services include information on Housing & Shelter, Benefits, Transportation, Food & Nutrition, In-Home Care, Health & Wellness, LGBT Programs/Services, Caregiver Assistance/Support and other community resources.
