Description
The Panama Pacific International Exposition - San Francisco’s 1915 World Fair
Part Two: San Francisco, The City That Knows How

This is the second of a multi part excursion to the 1915 San Francisco World’s Fair, the Panama Pacific International Exposition.

This month, we continue our jaunt through history, starting with opening day of the World's Fair and exploring the Exposition visiting the Tower of Jewels, the Avenue of Nations, amazing works of art, pavilions, and palaces.

We will pass through the main gates entering the great South Garden, 3000 feet in length. We will walk on the 300-foot wide Marina and its grand esplanade, with its floricultural splendors. Did you know there was even an exposition cookbook?

That and many other fascinating facts await so join us for an excursion through history with our incomparable guide to the past, Catherine Accardi. She will enthrall us with a collection of historic images and stories from the past. How did San Francisco host the world in grand style only 9 years after the devastating 1906 earthquake & fires? And how did this world’s fair shape San Francisco today?

Nineteen million people came to see the Exposition and on October 20th you can virtually attend with us on Zoom.

This event is free and open to all, so if friends, family or groups you belong to might enjoy learning about this bit of SF history, please invite them and send the link to this page so they can sign up to join us on Zoom.
