This is the third of a multi part excursion to the 1915 San Francisco World’s Fair, the Panama Pacific International Exposition (PPIE).
This series started on 9/22 when Catherine explained how the 1915 World's Fair came to fruition only 9 years after the 1906 earthquake and fires. Part Two on 10/20 continued our jaunt through history exploring the grounds of the Exposition to visit the Tower of Jewels, the Avenue of Nations, amazing works of art, pavilions, palaces, gardens and the Grand Esplanade (now Marina Blvd).
Regardless of whether you were able to join us for either or both of the first two parts of this series, we hope you will join us for Part Three on 12/6 to join us to frolic in the Joy Zone, enjoy the many peculiar amusements, take flight on what is now Crissy Field, and experience the final day when the lights went out and the PPIE closed.
Join us for an excursion through history with our incomparable guide to the past, Catherine Accardi, who will enthrall us with a collection of historic images and stories from the past, as well as how that past has shaped San Francisco today.
19 million people came to see the San Francisco Word’s Fair. We hope you will join us for Part Three of this series to discover The Joy Zone & After the Lights Went Out.
This event is free and open to all, so if friends, family or groups you belong to might enjoy learning about this bit of SF history, please invite them and send the link to this page so they can sign up to join us on Zoom.
