Description
Movie fans these days have no shortage of ways to watch a movie -- from streaming a video on a smartphone to snuggling up with popcorn in front of our treasured TV.  The luckiest among us has savored a classic film or latest release movie on the big screen at one of San Francisco's treasured historic theaters.

In our latest San Francisco History installment, our incredible guides to the past Catherine Accardi and Deanna Gumina take us behind the curtains and recount images, tales and memories of twenty-three historic San Francisco theaters, some of which can still be enjoyed, others that are gone or have been converted to a new incarnation.

Their memory laden talk and photos will feature the grand Fox and Castro, as well as quaint neighborhood gems like the Avenue and New Mission Theaters. They will also highlight some notable architects, including the Reid Brothers and Timothy Pfluger, whose extraordinary artistic vision created places for us to enjoy our favorite films in opulent, glorious spaces that still delight patrons over 100 years later.

Join us for Catherine and Deanna's latest trip back in time to relive, remember or learn about historic movie palaces that used to abound around San Francisco. As usual, we hope some of you will share your stories and memories after the presentation!!
