Description
Join us for a timely discussion of trade wars, tariffs and "The China Business Conundrum" -- an insider's account of a multi-million-dollar swindle and the realities facing American companies doing business in China.

Ken Wilcox is the former CEO of Silicon Valley Bank and the Shanghai Silicon Valley Bank, and is a recognized expert on the challenges of doing business in the Chinese market.  Join us as he discusses his latest book, The China Business Conundrum - Ensure That  "Win-Win" Doesn't Mean Western Companies Lose Twice. He will share his insights into the realities and complexities that foreign entities encounter when doing business in and with China.

About the author: Ken Wilcoxhas had many leadership and teaching roles over years, including serving on the boards of the Federal Reserve Bank of SF, Asian Art Museum in SF, and Asia Society of Northern California, and as adjunct professor at UC Berkeley and Fudan University in Shanghai. Ken thought he’d retire from 10 years as CEO of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB)—at the time, the world’s leading lender to innovative start-ups and their founders—to live a quiet life of gardens and grandchildren. He was wrong. Instead, he and his wife moved to Shanghai to establish the bank's Chinese subsidiary with the Chinese government. What happened next was four years of excitement, discovery, frustration, and a front-row seat to the China Business Conundrum.
