Description
Have you ever walked around North Beach and wondered about the history behind the unique buildings and places?

San Francisco has over 400 officially designated local, state, and national landmarks. That’s a lot of history in 7 1/2 square miles. The North Beach district alone is home to 33 of these landmarks!

Each building, each park and each monument has a story of its own, and quite often a fascinating bit of history behind it.

If you ever wondered “What was this place like 100 years ago?” this is an event you won't want to miss!

This month's Armchair Travel adventure takes us on an incredible "time travel" exploration of our North Beach neighborhood. Native San Franciscan and author Catherine Accardi will share then and now photographs to explore and explain what has happened that makes our community so unique – with historic images juxtaposed alongside the present day – for a journey through time that will open your eyes to the history of this amazing neighborhood.

Zoom link will be sent to registrants.

Presenter:  Catherine Accardi is a native San Franciscan, born and raised on Telegraph Hill. Graduating from San Francisco State University with degrees in Photography and Urban Planning, she has a keen interest in researching San Francisco history and in writing about local and California history. Catherine has been published numerous times, with over 150 published articles and interviews, and four books including, North Beach & Telegraph Hill, San Francisco Through Time, San Francisco Landmarks, and Images of America-Walnut Creek.
