Walk & Talk & Bark: Presidio Letterman Loop

When?
Monday, Aug 22 1:00PM - 2:30PM PDT

Where?
In-person

Description
Join NEXT Village walkers to get moving and meet new people! We'll partner walkers by the pace and distance they are comfortable with.

Our special guest on this walk will be one of Muttville’s furry little Goodwill Ambassadors (accompanied by Muttville Volunteer and Stanford Applied Compassion Training Program trainee Linda Maniwa). Well behaved pets are welcome! If you don't have a dog, you can enjoy the company of one of Muttville's senior dogs who will be joining us for the afternoon.

About this Walk: The trail is a paved 1.5 mile loop around the gorgeous Letterman Digital Arts Center meadow, created by landscape designer Lawrence Halprin. It has a creek-fed lagoon, 500 trees, shrubs, and ample walkways and sitting areas to enjoy views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Palace of Fine Arts. The 17-acre public landscape and campus are on the former site of Letterman Army hospital. Remnants of the hospital are embedded in the Lucas campus buildings (50 percent of the concrete from the hospital was used to create the new campus).

Before or after our walk you can grab a coffee at Starbucks or a meal at Sessions at the Presidio.

Please note:
  • The paved trail has a slight grade, but it is navigable for most wheelchairs/mobility equipment or strollers.
  • By registering for this event, you acknowledge that you are Covid vaccinated & have had 1 or more boosters, are able to walk a minimum of 1.5 miles unassisted without support, and that you won't hold NEXT Village liable for things that hopefully won't, but could happen, when you are out for a walk.
  • Meeting location near Lyon & Lombard Sts in the Presidio will be provided after registration.
