Walking Group: Exploring Crissy Field and Recently Opened Battery Bluff Park in the Presidio

Description
This walk was rescheduled (due to road construction last month) so you get another chance to join us. As a bonus, we've added the option to visit Battery Bluff park which opened on April 23.
We'll start by discovering new uses of some of the former military buildings along Crissy Field's Old Mason St. including a secret WW II school (now housing an exhibit on Prejudice & Patriotism about Japanese Americans in WW II), an Army commissary (now a sports store) and an aircraft hanger (now a trampoline park) on about a 1 mile flat paved route. From the Warming Hut, walkers can return to the starting point on the Mason St sidewalk or via the SF Bay Trail for an easy flat route *OR* intrepid walkers who want to get in more exercise can continue walking with Donna for an uphill trek to check out the quirky Presidio Pet Cemetery and then continue on a moderate grade hill to the newly opened Battery Bluff Park. We'll end at the main Parade Ground or Lombard St Gate (approximately 3+ miles from our starting point, but you can leave the group at any point).

Please note:
- Register in advance to receive starting address and "how to find us" detailed directions - starting location will be along the Presidio's Crissy Field near a MUNI bus stop and metered street parking.
- By registering for this event, you acknowledge that you are fully Covid vaccinated and have received at least one booster, are able to walk a minimum of 3+ miles unassisted without support, and that you won't hold NEXT Village liable for things that hopefully won't, but could happen, when you are out for a walk.
- There is an option to walk on paved relatively flat sidewalks and return to the starting point, or you can join us for a longer route with a moderate uphill and some dirt paths. The pet cemetery is uneven ground.
- Rain or inclement weather cancels. Check your email the morning of the event if weather looks questionable to see if event is still on.
