Walking Group: Francisco Park -- Exploring SF's Newest Public Park

When?
Monday, Jun 13 1:00PM - 2:30PM PDT

Where?
In-person

Description
Join us to check out San Francisco's newest public park on Russian Hill. Francisco Park officially opened to the public on April 27 on the site of the city’s first reservoir. The park's 4.5-acres cover two city blocks and include a children's playground, dog park, large grassy area, community garden and some remnants of the old reservoir. We'll walk around the park and enjoy the views while learning a bit about the history including how the Francisco Reservoir helped extinguish fires after the 1906 earthquake.

Please Note:
  • Register in advance to receive starting address and meeting up directions - starting location will be near the intersection of Bay & Hyde Streets. MUNI stops within a block of the park. Cable car stops next to the park. Two hour street parking may be available in the area.
  • This is an in person event with a gradual uphill walk on an ADA-accessible pathway (followed by downhill walk or stairs).
  • By registering for this event, you acknowledge that you are fully Covid vaccinated and have received at least one booster, are able to walk a minimum of 1.5+ miles unassisted without support, and that you won't hold NEXT Village liable for things that hopefully won't, but could happen, when you are out for a walk.
  • Rain or inclement weather cancels. Check your email the morning of the event if weather looks questionable to see if event is still on.

If you have any mobility challenges and want to check if this walk is appropriate for you, or if you want to volunteer to help us with this or other walking events, please email Donna - donna@nextvillagesf.org
