Description
On this flat level loop walk, we'll walk along a bit of the San Francisco Bay Trail to enjoy the views along the Bay including the Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island, Alcatraz Island, and Marin. This will be a walk for exercise rather than history, however our location does have a history. Prior to the 1906 earthquake, the area was a tidal marsh. After the earthquake it was filled and was the site of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. For two decades, Marina Green was an airfield and the first terminus of the US Transcontinental coast to coast air mail route. Now it's a beautiful grassy area to relax, play and enjoy as we walk.
For those who want a short walk, total loop walk back to starting point is about 1.5 miles, however you can go at your own pace and distance. Those who want more exercise are encouraged to go for a longer walk with their partners.

Please note:
- Register in advance to receive starting address and meeting up directions - starting location will be near lower Fort Mason & the Marina Safeway, within 4 blocks of a MUNI #30 bus stop and metered parking is available.
- By registering for this event, you acknowledge that you are fully Covid vaccinated and have received at least one booster, are able to walk a minimum of 2+ miles unassisted without support, and that you won't hold NEXT Village liable for things that hopefully won't, but could happen, when you are out for a walk.
- Most of this walk is on paved relatively flat sidewalks, shared with bikes & joggers.
- Rain or inclement weather cancels. Check your email the morning of the event if weather looks questionable to see if event is still on.
