Walking Group: Presidio Parade Ground Loop + CA Pioneers Museum

Join us for a 1+ mile walk in the Presidio that is reported to contain more history than any other other site within Golden Gate National Parks.
Like most of our walks, the priority is getting some exercise while having fun meeting new people for conversation while logging steps. However along the way, we'll point out some things like the Presidio Officers Club, excavations, and the under construction Presidio Parkway project.
We'll start on "Museum Row" to hear about the Society of Californian Pioneers from their Exhibitions Manager and have a few minutes to explore their new exhibit "We Are Not Strangers Here; African American Histories in Rural California."
We'll throw in a few historical tidbits so you learn a few things about the Presidio along the way about Spanish colonial settlers, 1906 refugees, U.S. Army history, and, for those who are interested, we can point out some military architecture.

Please note:
- Register in advance to receive starting address and meeting up directions - starting location will be at the north end of the Presidio parade ground on Montgomery St. between Sheridan & Lincoln.
- Ending location will be at Presidio Bowling Alley patio for drinks/snacks, however you may opt to leave the group earlier if you wish.
- Path is primarily on sidewalks, but we will walk on streets occasionally with short optional jaunts across grass for those able.
- The 1+ mile loop route is primarily flat with only a slight slope.
- If you'd like to check out the Society of CA Pioneers exhibit at your leisure, we recommend you arrive 30 minutes prior to the walk to explore the exhibit. People average 30 minutes or more viewing it and we will only have about 10 minutes there. Museum closes at 2PM, prior to end of our walk. - This is an person, outdoor event. By registering for this event, you acknowledge that you are fully Covid vaccinated & boosted, are able to walk a minimum of 2 miles unassisted, will wear a mask in consideration of other walkers who request you wear one near them, and that you won't hold NEXT Village liable for things that hopefully won't, but could happen, when you are out for a walk.
- Rain cancels. Check your email the morning of the event if weather looks questionable to see if event is still on.
