Walking Group: Upper Fort Mason Exploration & History Walk

When?
Wednesday, Feb 16 12:00PM - 1:30PM PST

Where?
In-person

Description
Join us for a walk to explore Fort Mason while getting in some exercise and a few historical tidbits along the way! Fort Mason's hilltop promontory has been used for harbor defenses for over 200 years by the Spanish, Mexican and United States military. Some things we'll see include a Civil War cannon battery, a wonderful community garden, restored Black Point gardens, a hostel, a chapel in Mission Revival style and a Beniamino "Benny" Bufano statue. We'll provide some brief history snippets along the way.

Fast walkers can partner up to walk at a faster pace; those more interested in conversation can stay with the main walking group. In person, outdoor event.

Please note:
  • This is an in person walk that will involve some dirt paths, short flights of stairs and short moderate slopes.
  • Register in advance to receive the meeting location in Upper Fort Mason.
