Mon Ami Data Security and Privacy for Volunteers and the Community

Woman working on computer and phone
Thank you for participating in the Mon Ami program. We hope that we come out of this crisis more connected and aware of the needs in our own communities. In order to enable that, we ask for information like phone number, address, and community membership. We appreciate your trust in sharing that data with us. Here’s how we will keep it safe, and how it will (and will not) be used.

How we keep your information safe

  • We don’t share last names in our system – only first name and last initial
  • Contact information like addresses and phone numbers of our community members is only shared with a matched volunteer; it is not available to anyone other than our staff, the staff of the non-profits we work with, and the individual providing direct services
  • When we match a volunteer for errands like grocery runs or prescription pickups, we run a criminal background check using a service called Checkr
  • All information is stored on secure servers

How we use information you share with us

  • We use phone numbers to put volunteers and community members in contact with one another
  • We use phone and email to communicate with our volunteers and community members when arranging calls and errand runs
  • We use addresses to make volunteer matches based on location
  • We use community membership (LGBTQ+, ethnicity, disability, etc) to honor unique needs and make culturally aligned matches wherever possible
  • We also capture information about interests, languages, and needs to enable meaningful connection

How we do not use information you share with us

  • We do not use contact info for marketing other services
  • We do not share personal information with outside parties or sell data
You can also use these links to review our terms and conditions and privacy policy in more detail.

We can only get through this together. Reach out to us with questions anytime at support@monami.io.
