Description:

By April 2026, state and local governments will be required to ensure their websites and mobile apps are ADA compliant, aligning with WCAG standards. This means creating systems that truly work for the people who use them, including government staff.

In this session, we’ll unpack what digital accessibility really means, clarify key terms, and share practical insights for aging and disability service providers. You’ll hear from Nimit, a visually impaired user with an Area Agency on Aging in New Jersey, who will share her lived experience navigating accessibility barriers and successes, alongside Noah, an accessibility design engineer, who has been deeply involved in building software features to meet real-world needs.

Whether you’re new to accessibility or simply want a clearer understanding, this “Accessibility 101” will demystify the concept and show how meaningful collaboration between software providers and users creates systems that are not only compliant—but empowering.
